PictureUse Products Considered Safe for Pets & People
In our last article, we talked about keeping our furry friends safe outdoors; however, we would be doing you a disservice if we didn’t also cover the list of common household products that are potentially lethal to animals. So, as you continue to work on your spring cleaning chores, both inside and outside the home, be sure to keep these harmful products out of your pets’ reach:

Common Household Cleaners & Disinfectants:
  • Bleach
  • Deodorizers
  • Detergent
  • Disinfectants
  • Drain Cleaner
  • Furniture Polish
  • Toilet Cleaner
  • Oven Cleaners
Household Pest Controls:
  • Insects & Spiders
  • Lawn & Garden Weeds
  • Rats, Mice, Gophers, & Moles
  • Snails & Slugs
Automotive & Machinery:
  • Antifreeze
  • Brake Fluid
  • Engine & Motor Cleaners
  • Frost Removers
  • Lubricants
  • Motor Fuel/Oil
  • Windshield Washer
  • Tire Repair

Health & Beauty Products:
  • Ibuprofen
  • Bath Oils
  • Diet & Sleep Aid Pills
  • Some Eye Makeup
  • Deodorants
  • Perfume
  • Shaving Lotion
  • Suntan Lotion
  • Rubbing Alcohol
Miscellaneous Items:
  • Batteries
  • Matches
  • Mothballs
  • Lighter Fluid
  • Paint & Paint related Items (thinners, cleaners, removers)
  • Adhesives
If you suspect that your pet has ingested any of these products, please call your veterinarian immediately. The sooner your pet is treated, the greater chance that your furry friend will survive. Also, with the continued demand for alternative products that are considered safe for our pets, you may find that you can replace many of your common household cleaners with  safer options such as those found in the Life’s Abundance Pet Care Line. However, no matter what products are in your home, it is important to keep all medications, cleaners, and chemicals out of reach in order to keep our pets and children safe.
